A DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
A private airport welcome and hotel transfer provide a calm beginning after the international flight. Guests receive a cross-border briefing covering visas, passports, yellow-fever documentation where applicable, luggage and the guide handover at Namanga. The remainder of the day is free.
Drive south to Amboseli and enter the park after lunch. Explore open plains, acacia woodland and wetlands fed by underground water from Kilimanjaro. Elephant families are the main attraction, although the guide also searches for predators and plains game. End the day with mountain views if weather conditions cooperate.
Begin early for the clearest light and the best chance of seeing Kilimanjaro before clouds build. Spend the morning around the marshes and quieter wildlife areas, with enough time for patient observation and photography. Lunch may be taken at the lodge or in the park. Continue later in the afternoon, when elephants and other animals become active again.
Leave Amboseli after breakfast and drive to the Namanga border. The Kenyan guide assists with exit formalities and hands the guests to the Tanzanian guide after immigration. Passports and visa approvals should remain in hand luggage. Continue through Arusha and toward Tarangire. If border processing and road conditions allow, enter the park for a short late-afternoon game drive; otherwise, settle into the lodge and begin early the next morning.
Explore the Tarangire River, baobab country and seasonal wetlands. During the dry season, the river becomes a dependable water source and attracts large numbers of elephants, buffalo and plains game. The park also supports lions, leopards and many bird species. The private vehicle makes it possible to spend the whole day inside the park or divide the programme into morning and afternoon drives.
Enjoy a final morning game drive before travelling toward Karatu and the Ngorongoro highlands. The route climbs from dry savannah into cooler cultivated country. Depending on arrival time and guest interest, visit a coffee estate, walk through a local market with a guide or simply enjoy the lodge and prepare for the early crater descent.
Enter the conservation area early and descend to the crater floor. The enclosed grasslands, forest and lakes support a dense concentration of wildlife, including buffalo, elephants, lions, spotted hyenas and, with luck, black rhinos. After a picnic lunch, climb out and continue across the highlands and plains toward Central Serengeti. The transfer remains a game-viewing day, with regular stops as wildlife appears along the route.
Spend an uninterrupted day exploring the Seronera Valley and surrounding plains. Permanent water and varied habitat support resident wildlife throughout the year, making this one of the most dependable areas for lions, leopards and cheetahs. The guide plans the day around current sightings and guest interests. A picnic allows the vehicle to remain in the field, or guests can return to camp for lunch and resume later.
Take a final morning drive toward the airstrip, allowing time for wildlife stops without risking the flight. Board the scheduled aircraft to Arusha or Kilimanjaro. A transfer and day room can be arranged before the international departure, or guests may connect onward to Zanzibar for a beach extension.
