Comfort private road safari
First time safari travellers couples families and small private groups

This itinerary introduces three different sides of Kenya. Amboseli brings close elephant encounters and Kilimanjaro views. Lake Naivasha slows the pace with a boat journey through Rift Valley scenery. The Maasai Mara provides the strongest concentration of big cats and classic savannah wildlife. Driving into the Mara and flying back to Nairobi keeps the overall journey practical.

A DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
A Migsam Safaris representative welcomes guests at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and assists with luggage before the private transfer to the hotel. No demanding activities are scheduled on arrival day. Guests can rest after the international flight, enjoy the hotel facilities or add a privately arranged visit to the Giraffe Centre if their arrival time permits. The guide confirms the following morning’s departure and reviews the route, expected road conditions and luggage arrangements.
Leave Nairobi after breakfast and travel south toward Amboseli. The route passes small towns, farms and increasingly dry country before reaching the national park. After lunch, begin the first game drive across open plains where wildlife is easy to observe. Elephants are the main focus, although the park also supports buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions and cheetahs. If clouds lift in the late afternoon, the guide positions the vehicle for a view of Mount Kilimanjaro before returning to the lodge.
Start before the day becomes warm, when animals are active and the mountain is most likely to be visible. Explore the marsh systems and surrounding plains at a pace suited to the guests. The private vehicle allows the guide to stay longer at a good sighting rather than following a rigid timetable. Lunch can be taken at the lodge or as a picnic, depending on wildlife conditions. The afternoon drive may include Observation Hill, woodland edges and quieter sections of the park before sunset.
After breakfast, drive north and west through changing scenery toward the Great Rift Valley. The journey is longer than a normal game-drive day, so comfort stops are planned along the route. Arrive at Lake Naivasha in time for a late lunch or afternoon tea, then take a guided boat trip when weather and lake conditions permit. Hippos rest in the shallows while fish eagles, kingfishers, cormorants and pelicans use the lake and shoreline. The evening is free at the lodge.
Continue across the Rift Valley and into Maasai country. The final approach reveals the open grasslands of the Greater Mara ecosystem. After check-in and lunch, begin an afternoon game drive. Resident wildlife is present throughout the year, and the first drive may produce lions, elephants, giraffes, topi, wildebeest or cheetahs. During the migration season, the guide assesses herd movements and discusses the best plan for the following day rather than promising a specific crossing.
Set out early with a picnic breakfast or return to camp after the morning drive. The day remains flexible so the guide can respond to predator activity, migration movements and weather. Time may be spent along the Mara River, on the open plains or in quieter territories used by resident big cats. A picnic lunch inside the reserve avoids losing the middle of the day to transfers. A balloon safari can replace the morning drive when booked in advance.
Enjoy breakfast and, when the flight schedule allows, a short final activity before transferring to the nearest airstrip. The scheduled flight to Wilson Airport avoids a long road journey at the end of the safari. A driver meets the aircraft and transfers guests to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a Nairobi hotel or a prearranged restaurant and day room. International departure should be booked with enough connection time between Wilson and Jomo Kenyatta airports.
