A DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Day 01:

Private arrival in Arusha

Movement  Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha about 1 to 1.5 hours

Meet the private transfer and continue to Arusha. Settle into the hotel and review the journey with the safari host. The first evening is kept open for rest, spa time or dinner rather than attaching an activity to an uncertain arrival hour.

The arrival day is deliberately kept light. After the airport formalities and luggage collection, the transfer team assists with the vehicle and the drive to the hotel. This gives you time to recover from the international journey instead of starting the safari tired.

At the hotel, the guide reviews tomorrow’s departure time, luggage arrangement, dietary requests and any optional activities already confirmed. The evening is free for dinner and rest, with no wildlife programme forced into the arrival schedule.

The premium character comes from private guiding, appropriate pacing and a carefully confirmed property, not from packing extra activities into the day. Optional experiences are added only when they improve the journey and fit the operating conditions.

Day 02:

Tarangire elephant country

Movement  Arusha to Tarangire about 2 to 2.5 hours

Travel by private vehicle to Tarangire and begin a game drive before lunch. Explore river bends, baobab woodland and quieter side tracks at a measured pace. A hot lunch or carefully prepared picnic is arranged according to lodge location. Finish with a late-afternoon drive and a sundowner in an authorised setting.

Tarangire rewards patient driving rather than a quick circuit. The guide follows the river system, baobab woodland and seasonal marshes, checking fresh tracks and recent reports while choosing quieter side roads when conditions allow. Elephant herds are often a central feature, although every sighting remains natural and unplanned.

The day usually includes a picnic or lodge lunch, with time to pause during the warmer hours. Afternoon temperatures and animal movement determine the final route before the park exit and transfer to the lodge. Arrival is planned before dark, leaving time to settle, shower and dine without rushing.

Day 03:

Fly from Tarangire to Serengeti

Movement  Morning game drive; Kuro to Seronera flight subject to the confirmed schedule

Use the morning for a final Tarangire drive, then continue to Kuro Airstrip for the scheduled flight to Central Serengeti. Meet the Serengeti guide and transfer by game drive to the lodge. This day does not promise both morning and afternoon Tarangire drives before the flight; the exact timing follows the ticket.

Central Serengeti supports wildlife throughout the year, so the guide works with the day’s conditions rather than relying only on migration movements. River valleys, kopjes and open plains are explored at a pace that leaves time to watch behaviour instead of moving immediately after each sighting.

An early start often provides cooler temperatures and softer light. Guests may carry a picnic for a wider circuit or return to camp during the warmer middle hours. The afternoon drive is adjusted after lunch, using fresh reports while avoiding unnecessary repetition.

Day 04:

Central Serengeti private safari

Movement  Flexible local game drives

Choose a dawn departure, a split morning and afternoon schedule, or a longer picnic circuit. The private vehicle gives the guide freedom to work with sightings and guest interests. A bush lunch or sundowner may be arranged where permitted. A balloon safari is optional and subject to operator age, height, mobility, weather and medical rules.

Day 05:

Serengeti morning and flight out

Movement  Morning game drive; scheduled flight about 1 to 1.5 hours

Enjoy a final drive toward Seronera Airstrip and fly to Arusha. A private vehicle connects with Kilimanjaro Airport, an Arusha hotel or the next confirmed flight. The departure schedule preserves a final wildlife morning without creating a risky international connection.

FAQs

What is the best time to go on a Tanzania safari?
Tanzania offers excellent safari experiences throughout the year, but the best time depends on what you want to see. The dry season is generally popular for wildlife viewing, while different periods offer unique experiences such as the wildebeest migration and calving season.
Yes. Migsam Safaris can tailor your journey around your preferred destinations, travel dates, accommodation style, activities, budget, and interests. Whether you are planning a luxury family safari, honeymoon, migration safari, or a private wildlife adventure, the itinerary can be customized.

This depends on your interests and the length of your trip. Popular destinations include Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park. Your safari can be designed around wildlife, landscapes, the Great Migration, cultural experiences, or a combination of these.

Yes. Tanzania can be an excellent destination for a family safari. Migsam Safaris can recommend suitable lodges, routes, safari durations, and activities based on the children’s ages and your family’s preferences.

For peak travel periods, luxury camps, and popular migration seasons, booking several months in advance is recommended. However, Migsam Safaris can also help plan trips with shorter lead times, subject to accommodation and vehicle availability.
