Your journey begins with a flight to Central Serengeti, where an afternoon game drive explores the open plains, river valleys and granite kopjes around Seronera. The following morning offers another opportunity for wildlife viewing before a scenic drive towards the Ngorongoro Highlands, with wildlife encounters continuing along the route.
On day three, descend into the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater for an extended game drive across its diverse habitats. Spend time exploring the crater floor, where wildlife concentrations can be remarkable, before ascending to the highlands for a relaxed evening.
Your final day takes you to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its ancient baobabs, river corridors and elephant-rich landscapes. Enjoy a final game drive and picnic lunch before continuing to Arusha Airport for your evening flight back to Zanzibar.

A DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

Fly from Zanzibar to Seronera and meet the safari guide at the airstrip. Begin with a game drive through the central plains, river valleys and granite kopjes. Lunch may be served as a picnic or at camp, depending on the landing time. Continue exploring until late afternoon, then settle into camp for dinner and a briefing on the following morning’s route.
The Seronera region offers several possible circuits, and the route is selected after considering recent sightings, road conditions and the guest’s interests. The guide may spend time around river courses, rocky kopjes or open plains, explaining how each habitat supports different animals.
Because the vehicle is private, a promising sighting can be observed patiently and quieter tracks can be chosen when main routes become busy. Lunch arrangements support the chosen distance, followed by a late drive when temperatures fall and activity often changes.
Movement About 3.5 to 4.5 hours of onward driving excluding wildlife stops
Use the cool morning for another Central Serengeti game drive, with particular attention to fresh tracks and activity reported by guides in the area. After an early lunch, travel southeast toward Naabi Hill and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Wildlife viewing continues along much of the route. Reach the highlands before dark and enjoy dinner overlooking the surrounding forest or crater landscape.

Movement Highland lodge to descent road about 20 to 45 minutes
Descend to the crater floor after an early breakfast. Spend around five to six hours exploring the varied habitats, stopping at an authorised picnic site for lunch. The crater is known for dense wildlife concentrations, but the guide will explain that leopard and black rhino sightings remain matters of timing and luck. Ascend in the afternoon and continue to Karatu for a relaxed evening.
Descending from the highlands reveals the scale of the caldera and a distinct mix of habitats below. The private vehicle moves between grassland, woodland and wetland areas, with the route adjusted for traffic, road conditions and fresh information shared among professional guides.
The crater visit normally occupies the central part of the day, including a picnic lunch. After the final drive, the vehicle climbs back to the rim and continues only as far as the confirmed schedule can comfortably support, avoiding an unrealistic late arrival.
Movement Karatu to Tarangire about 1.5 to 2 hours; park to Arusha Airport about 2 to 2.5 hours
Leave Karatu early for Tarangire. Follow the river corridor and nearby baobab country on a morning and early-afternoon game drive, with a picnic lunch inside the park. Depart with sufficient time for the road transfer to Arusha Airport and the evening flight to Zanzibar. A private transfer returns you to your beach or Stone Town hotel.
The landscape changes noticeably as the road enters Tarangire’s baobab country. Wildlife often gathers near the river and remaining water, but the guide also explores woodland, open grassland and swamp edges to give the day ecological variety rather than concentrating on one busy viewing area.
